The LEGO Americana Tour is going on now at the Park Meadows Mall in Lone Tree, Colorado. Stop by with the kids to check out our country’s most famous landmarks made entirely out of LEGOs, do some shopping, and maybe be inspired to start a little LEGO brick creation of your own!
The United States: As Told By LEGOs
This free tour brings large, intricate, and detailed replicas of our nation’s most important buildings from across the country, serving as an educational, inspirational, and fun tribute to our country’s history. The Park Meadows Mall is the exclusive venue of this exciting and creative exhibition in the state of Colorado.
The many iconic buildings are dispersed throughout the mall. This to-scale collection of America’s most popular and important architectural structures includes the U.S. Capitol Building, the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Supreme Court, the White House, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Old North Church, and the Statue of Liberty.
Each model is painstakingly constructed from thousands of LEGO bricks to provide audiences with exact representations of these buildings that truly encapsulate the American spirit of freedom, liberty, and justice that have inspired so many over the past few hundred years. This traveling show is the perfect opportunity to teach kids about our nation’s history, government, and structure. A lesson in civics as well as a fun exhibit sure to inspire creativity in children and their parents alike, the LEGO Americana Tour was constructed by a team of LEGO Master Builders. Each building or architectural structure will feature fun and informative facts that lend themselves to the perfect outing for local school groups. In fact, the Park Meadows website offers lesson plans to teachers that were inspired by the Americana Tour.
A huge hit with the kids, and an informative ride for the adults, this mini-museum is a great way to spend an afternoon for people of all ages. While Colorado has its fair share of U.S. history—from old ranch houses to Native American artifacts—this exhibit is a great way to get up close to our nation’s beginnings and its national treasures without taking a trip to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, or Boston.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 18th and 19th, visitors can stop by the Macy’s Court to construct their own mini model of the Lincoln Memorial entirely out of LEGOs! All children and adults 4 and over are welcome to come by from between noon and 4 p.m. to build a little piece of history to bring home with them.
The LEGO Americana Roadshow will be on display until April 26, 2015 at the Park Meadows Mall Retail Resort at 8401 Park Meadows Center Drive, Lone Tree, CO 80124 located off of Highway 87. The mall is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. There’s always something fun to do if you live in Lone Tree CO. Be sure to stop in over the weekend—you don’t want to miss out on this one-of-a-kind tribute to America.
