Here are just a few examples of how the Castle Rock Police Department shows its commitment to the community:

Coffee With a Cop: Have you ever wanted to have a conversation with a cop but never had the opportunity? Now you do! The Castle Rock Police Department offers “Coffee With a Cop” each month. Simply show up and talk with a member of your local police department. A complete calendar of dates and locations is posted on the Town of Castle Rock’s website. Members of the police department look forward to meeting you!

COPS Camp: “COPS” stands for Challenge, Overcome, Persevere, Succeed. This four-day program takes place during the summer. Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 17 – and eager to partake in various adventures, activities and challenges. The program is led by Castle Rock law enforcement coaches who are skilled at encouraging teamwork and leadership skills in a positive environment.

911 for Kids: The Castle Rock Police Department is committed to the safety and security of all residents and visitors – regardless of their age. The department is involved in teaching children the importance of dialing 9-1-1 in case of an emergency. The department is happy to make 9-1-1 Kids Education Program presentations to groups of children. Teachers and caregivers are welcome to schedule a class presentation by calling (303) 663-6100.

Citizen’s Police Academy: If you have ever wondered what it’s like to be an actual police officer, now is your chance to find out! The Citizens Police Academy allows residents of Castle Rock to learn about law enforcement through classroom education and hands-on training. This program is free and the course is 10-weeks in length – meeting on Monday nights for 10 weeks in a row. The Academy is open to a limited number of people, so make sure to register early.

K9 Unit: There are currently two K9 members of the Castle Rock Police Department: Police Service Dog Ronin and Police Service Dog Titan. Ronin was born in 2012 and is a Belgian Malinois and German shepherd mix. He has been a police service dog since 2014. Titan was also born in 2012. He is a Belgian Malinois who also began working for the Castle Rock Police Department in 2014. Anyone interested in a police dog demonstration should submit a request form (which can be found on the Town of Castle Rock’s website) to the police department.

In addition to the programs listed above, the police department oversees several other programs such as: Art Around the Rock, community policing, addressing issues proactively through a COPPS survey project, and administering a crime stoppers program in Castle Rock neighborhoods.

The Castle Rock Police Department does an excellent job of protecting and serving the Castle Rock community. If you are considering buying a home in Castle Rock, you can rest assured that this community is secured by a proactive police force with a true dedication to keeping the area crime free and safe. Additional information about the Castle Rock Police Department and the abovementioned programs is available on the Town of Castle Rock’s website.
