Castle Rock Lighting of the Star – 2016

One of the most enjoyable, not-to-be-missed annual events in Castle Rock!

No matter if you are a resident of one of the many Castle Rock CO neighborhoods, or if you are visitor  to the area, the annual Castle Rock Lighting of the Star is an event not to miss.

The Starlighting Ceremony is a tradition that locals have been enjoying on a yearly basis since 1936. It’s an event that many people anticipate each year with great excitement! The Lighting of the Star signifies the beginning of the year’s holiday season. It’s an event that celebrates a sense of community, enjoyment and tradition.

Originally, the “larger than life” star’s purpose was to draw visitors and commerce to Castle Rock. Over the years, the star has been a symbol of hope, strength and unity. Today, the Lighting of the Star remains one of the most enjoyable, not-to-be-missed annual events in Castle Rock. Read more about George P. Stewart, “The Rock” and how this tradition came to be in “The Story of the Starlighting“.
