With two new home construction projects in process, The Canyons development and the Castle Pines Valley development, Castle Pines CO is expected to double in size.

Construction has already started on The Canyons, a master-planned development located on the east side of I-25 between Hess Road and Happy Canyon Road – just south of the Rueter-Hess Reservoir. According to the City of Castle Pines, Colorado, The Canyons encompasses 3,343 acres of land, and will include the following amenities:

- 4 acres for a transit station
- 1.5 acres for a fire station
- 2,500 dwelling/residential units
- 2.1 million square feet for mixed use/non-residential development
- 113 acres for public parks
- 50 acres for public schools
- 1,400 acres of open space
The Canyons Development Builders – Shea Homes Colorado
Shea Homes will develop and build the residential portion of The Canyons. When complete, the development’s 2,000 residences will include single-family homes and multi-family complexes. Besides homes, the area will also feature several amenities that will collectively provide a desirable atmosphere for living, working, shopping, and spending time outdoors.
In 2015 Shea Homes purchased 1,270 acres of land in The Canyons from North Canyons LLLP. Although architectural plans have not yet been released, it is expected that the homes built by Shea will offer a substantial mix of options – including starter homes, luxury homes, and ranch-style homes. A price range for these homes has not yet been made public.
