Who has the best parks in America?
In 2011 and 2012, The National Recreation and Parks Association awarded Castle Rock and Parker Colorado the gold medal for towns with a population of 20,000 – 50,000. You can view those results here. Parker CO was the gold medal winner in 2011 and Castle Rock CO was the gold medal winner for 2012. Parker also took the gold in 2000 for a population under 20,000 and Golden CO was the Gold Medal winner for 2010 with a population under 20,000. How about that?
So let’s kick that up a bit and keep Castle Rock in the forefront. After receiving the gold medal award for best recreation and parks in the USA, Castle Rock opened the Phillip S. Miller Activity Complex (MAC) on October 25, 2014. Located south of the intersection of Wolfensberger and Coachline Road near The Meadows and Redhawk Ridge, MAC has:
- an indoor pool with slides
- swimming lanes
- party rooms
- children’s play structure
- batting cages
- golf simulator
- both half and full sized indoor synthetic fields.
Glance through the latest edition of the MAC Guide and check out the classes and activities offered. Outstanding!
Rumor has it that a zip line up to 50 MPH and indoor skiing facility are still being built at MAC, which cost over $10m.
Perhaps Colorado is America’s playground?
Considering there is skiing, rafting, canoeing, hiking, biking, camping, national parks, state parks, and outdoor fun events for families throughout this state and 300+ days per year of sunshine to do it all! Plus, let’s not forget great breweries and low real estate taxes.
